Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD), Slovenia

The mission of the Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD) is to support development of the organic sector in Slovenia by research, knowledge transfer, awareness-raising and development projects. ISD was founded in 1996. Its research activities are both at the national and European level; the focus includes socio-economics, whole farm economics, organic market, policy research and sustainability of agrosystems. ISD has well-established links to organic farms, enabling it to identify and engage farmers in on-farm research, and to perform an effective dissemination. ISD also coordinates a national network of organic school gardens, to promote understanding of sustainable food and agrosystems.
